About The Position

The Clinical Integration Specialist (CIS), located at UAMS Health Benton/Bryant, is a licensed nurse who functions within the three spheres of influence: patient, nurse, and system, and must possess advanced knowledge of nursing practice and the ability to apply standards within the ambulatory practice areas. The CIS functions independently to provide theory and evidence-based knowledge that shapes the practice and core competencies of the nursing staff. The CIS provides area leadership in collaboration with the administrative leaders focusing on orientation, professional development, skills/competency validation, evidence-based practice, shared governance, regulatory compliance, nurse-sensitive quality indicators, and performance improvement. The CIS collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and functions in the healthcare system as a leader, consultant, and change agent and, therefore, must possess strong communication and problem-solving skills. The Clinical Integration Specialist is responsible for working independently and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to identify clinical problems, prioritize needs, develop, and implement interventions, and evaluate the process.

Requirements

  • BSN, Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • National Certification or the ability to test within one year of hire.
  • Four (4) years of clinical experience with two (2) years in specialty area and two (2) years in a leadership role.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas.
  • Current BLS by date of hire.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Project management or knowledge of Quality Improvement/Process Improvement processes.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Understands and abides by confidentiality policies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the Role of Clinical Integration Specialist
  • Assesses and designs training and/or educational programs to address identified deficiencies/learning needs.
  • Understands and assures the use of adult learning principles and culturally appropriate initiatives and imparts this knowledge to faculty/staff as appropriate.
  • Identifies barriers or concerns that interfere with the learning process and suggests alternatives for resolution; consults with departments, staff, and managers to determine goals.
  • Establishes and leads process improvement initiatives.
  • Guest Relations: Takes a proactive approach toward patients and families. Always respectful of others. Always use appropriate communication, both verbal and written. Maintain privacy/confidentiality. Available and responsive to customers.
  • Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Promotes a safe working environment by complying with the department, institutional safety policies, and regulatory agencies. Observes safe work practices and provides input on safety issues.
  • Process Improvement: Understands and communicates Performance Improvement and participates as required. Identifies quality concerns and communicates appropriately. Facilitates change processes and assists others through change transition.
  • Institutional/Professional Standards: Adheres to the UAMS Code of Conduct and Department policies. Adopts practices to improve the work process, enhance guest satisfaction, and reduce waste. Works effectively with team/work groups to fulfill UAMS mission and Department goals.
  • Professional Growth: Participates in continuing education by completing the required development hours annually. Participates in professional/institutional advancement of self and co-workers.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
