Clinical Specialist, Pelvic Health - Washington DC
About The Position
This is a field-based role requiring the professional to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. A valid driver's license is essential. The role involves travel outside the territory for broader engagement. Medtronic's Neuroscience portfolio, specifically the Pelvic Health Operating Unit, focuses on improving the lives of patients with neurological disorders, spine conditions, and chronic pain. They develop technologies and therapies, including minimally invasive neuromodulation therapies for bladder and bowel control conditions, to help patients regain function, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life. The Clinical Specialist will support the Pelvic Health Therapy groups in surgical coverage, follow-up, support, troubleshooting, customer service, and education within a territory. Basic market development activities may also be involved.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED AND a minimum of 6 years of patient care/clinical experience
- OR Associate’s Degree AND a minimum of 4 years of patient care/clinical experience
- OR Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 2 years of patient care/clinical experience
- Must have a valid driver's license and active vehicle insurance policy.
- Driving record will be reviewed and considered as part of the application.
- Must be able to drive approximately 50% of the time within assigned territory.
- May require overnight travel.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
- Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required for roles below Principal level.

- Clinical skill and knowledge (e.g., ability to conduct a simple trial, implant and/or refill a pump)
- Clinical experience with implantable Neuromodulation products and stim experience
- Experience in servicing medical personnel on product use

- Clinical experience in a specialty area: urology, surgical, RN, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, operating room, or home health care
- Ability to communicate effectively with sales and health care professionals
- Ability to coach others on use of products and clinical applications

- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Preference will be given to local qualified candidates and candidates with Medtronic experience
Responsibilities
- Represents Medtronic Pelvic Health during surgeries and implants by providing all necessary equipment and products.
- Demonstrates expertise in all aspects of implant, follow-up support, and troubleshooting techniques (such as proper device selection, appropriate programming, correct implantation, and testing of all device systems).
- Maintains current knowledge about assigned products and services as well as competitive products.
- Proactively identifies needs in new and existing accounts and teaches a broader level of caregivers and account employees.
- Educates and trains physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on technical matters relating to Medtronic's products and therapies through one-on-one sessions, in-service education programs, seminars, and/or outside symposiums.
- Assists the district manager and in-house training department in the education/training of new employees in the district.
- Provides sales support during or following cases, such as completing necessary documentation (implant registration, temporary ID cards, packing lists) and executing invoices.
- Places orders with customer service for pending purchase orders and product replacement.
- Maintains open and effective communication with all district personnel, customers, and other Medtronic employees.
- Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects at the regional and/or national level.
- Understands all applicable quality policy/system items and follows all work/quality procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high-quality work.
- Performs other related activities as assigned.
