About The Position

The Mayo Clinic Florida Cancer Center’s multidisciplinary team is dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, and education. In this role, you will support patients with a variety of cancer diagnoses by providing psychosocial care, including counseling, case management, education, and advocacy for patients and families facing a new diagnosis or navigating treatment. You will join a dedicated, innovative, and supportive oncology social work team. In addition to providing direct patient care, the social worker in this position will assist practice areas during periods of increased demand and provide coverage as needed. Success in this role requires flexibility, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, teamwork, and a passion for supporting patients and families. An OSW-C is preferred. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA).
  • Licensure (LCSW) to practice independently at the clinical level as required by applicable state requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of mental illness, personality development, knowledge of the types of treatment, and skills in conducting individual, group, and family therapy.
  • Knowledge of adjustment to medical diagnosis' and chronic disease.
  • Strong communication skills are needed to interact with patients, patient's family members, consultants, residents, hospital personnel, community agencies, and other resources.
  • Psychosocial diagnostic skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and in written form.
