About The Position

The Clinical Social Worker 3 (CSW 3) primary responsibilities are psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, brief therapeutic interventions, consultation, education, community linkages, supportive services, and to facilitate the plan of care through the health care continuum for patients, families, and staff, with particular focus on high-risk populations. The CSW 3 acts as a consultant to the clinical team, service lines and other departments and participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives. The CSW 3 will conduct legal and ethical billing for services when applicable and appropriate. The CSW 3 will primarily practice at the McClymond’s High School FQHC Health Center location and at the Claremont Primary Care Clinic but also be available to the Castlemont High School FQHC Health Clinic, Claremont TEEN Adolescent FQHC site, FQHC Mobile Clinic as needed. The CSW 3 will support students and community members in and around McClymonds High School as well as patients in the Encore Medical Clinic, a specialty clinic within Claremont Primary Care, which services unstably housed children and their families. The CSW 3 will practice within the scope of UCSF’s mission statement: Caring, Healing, Teaching, Discovering; and the values statement of UCSF’s Everyday PRIDE: Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence. The CSW 3 will participate in department education and practice improvement activities. Requirements

  • Clinical Social Worker 3 (CSW 3) position requires a Master's degree in Social Work.
  • Must have a valid California Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in clinical social work, preferably in a healthcare or school-based setting.
  • Experience working with high-risk populations, including unstably housed children and families.
  • Proficiency in psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, and brief therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong consultation and education skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and linkages.
  • Familiarity with healthcare continuum and care planning.
  • Understanding of legal and ethical billing practices for social work services.

  • Commitment to reducing health disparities and increasing access to care through a trauma-informed, culturally appropriate approach.
