About The Position

Maple Respiratory Group is seeking two (2) Clinical Sleep Assistants to join their Calgary team. This role involves working closely with a registered sleep technologist to gain expertise in sleep lab standards and practices. The position focuses on various sleep study procedures, including educating and instructing patients on Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT). Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, along with six months of direct patient care experience or one year of post-secondary education OR Completion of a sleep credential program, such as CPSGT or CCSH.
  • Alternatively, current enrollment in an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with a focus on sleep technology is also considered.
  • Foreign medical graduates and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Adherence to HIPAA and privacy policies.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to address their specific needs.
  • Collaborate with physicians and clinical directors to determine testing parameters.
  • Review patient history and ensure accurate medical orders.
  • Adhere to sleep center protocols for Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT).
  • Welcome and orient patients undergoing sleep apnea testing.
  • Provide comprehensive patient education and instruction.
  • Select and calibrate equipment, apply sensors, and ensure proper functioning.
  • Follow cleaning and disinfection procedures.
  • Monitor patient safety and adhere to protocols.
  • Adhere to scoring parameters and identify issues for accurate reports.
  • Comply with safety, infection control regulations, and standards.
  • Perform equipment care, maintenance, and inventory evaluation.
  • Maintain CPR or BLS certification.
  • Respond to patient inquiries using sleep center-specific protocols.
  • Comply with sleep center policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the quality assurance program.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and inventory.
  • Uphold professional standards of conduct.
