Supervises public health nurses and clinical programs. This is accomplished by scheduling and monitoring program activities, developing policies and procedures, preparing required reports, reviewing goals and objectives, and responding to disease reports and outbreaks. The role involves managing programs by supervising personnel, assigning tasks, developing and updating programs, policies, and procedures, assisting with educational activities, preparing reports, and communicating with community leaders. It also includes maintaining program staffing through hiring, managing time and leave, directing tasks, providing training, monitoring assignments, conducting performance evaluations, and documenting actions. The position leads the Epidemiology/Surveillance Program, monitors staff, reviews disease reports, investigates outbreaks, contacts healthcare providers and patients, provides preventive tools, educates the community, and enters data into the Texas disease database. The supervisor also acts as the administrator of the electronic medical records system, manages clinical resources and supplies, assists with grant applications and reporting, and is a core member of the Public Health Preparedness Team, serving as backup for the Strategic National Stockpile Coordinator. Responsibilities include immunizing citizens, providing vaccine counseling, performing disease intervention, surveillance, and prevention for various conditions, applying epidemiological principles, developing community health education programs, establishing communication and partnerships with stakeholders, providing consultation and training, and maintaining records.
