About The Position

We are seeking a Clinical Services Nurse responsible for performing a variety of duties depending on whether it is a small clinic, large medical practice, multi-clinic, or a specialty office. They may be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited BSN program.
  • At least three years registered nursing experience.
  • Must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to push/pull minimum 100 lbs. with aid of a wheelchair.
  • Must be able to carry minimum 20 lbs.
  • Current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a resource person in a nursing specialty area for patients, nurses, and other health team members throughout the Duke University medical center and community agencies.
  • Follow up to assure labs/procedures are completed, discuss abnormal results with provider, call patients with explanation of abnormal results, annotate normal results and forward to patients via MyChart or mail only if no MyChart account.
  • Coordinate labs/studies with outside facilities, obtain appointments with specialists and coordinate w/pt., review all grid sheets after clinic-to ensure items were completed.
  • Manage incoming patient calls, coordinate plans with providers, and return patient calls. Manage prescription refills as directed by provider. Complete prior authorizations, patient/insurance requested forms, and coordinate referrals.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
