This position is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily operations of the designated clinic including patient care and clinic business processes.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with Bachelors in Nursing required
  • At least 5 years of experience in nursing
  • At least 3 of those years in a supervisory capacity
  • Valid License as a Registered Nurse by the State of Arkansas
  • Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates effective analytical abilities to identify clinic needs that require intervention and/or revision
  • Serves as a liaison with the director and administration, exchanging information and identifying problems or needs related to clinical activity
  • Maintains awareness of clinic status and potential problems by functioning as a working supervisor
  • Supervises and implements Quality Assurance studies, provides reports to appropriate personnel, and analyzes and identifies critical factors of patient care to facilitate the enhancement of the quality of patient care offered
  • Demonstrates cost-conscious awareness by comparing/analyzing clinic expenditures monthly against the general ledger and effectively utilizing staff, space, and supplies within budgetary restraints
  • Assumes responsibility for successfully fulfilling the standards of licensing and crediting agencies.
  • Plans measurable clinic-related goals and objectives as guidelines for performance
  • Conducts annual needs assessments with staff.
  • Participates in the formal development of maintenance, capital equipment, and staff budgets
  • Develops, interprets, and implements policies, guidelines, protocols, job descriptions, and performance appraisals annually
  • Coordinates scheduling of leave time.
  • Submits a documented plan for any physical plant renovation or repair as necessary
  • Participates on ad hoc committees as required to develop plans related to clinic issues
  • Maintains a current awareness of the abilities and limitations of each staff member
  • Demonstrates good managerial judgment in assigning duties appropriate to each individual
  • Demonstrates effective time management and delegation skills to accomplish clinic activity within work schedule restraints.
  • Implements good managerial judgment by conducting all aspects of supervision in a fair, consistent, objective, and professional manner.
  • Maintains adequate staffing pattern, adjusting assignments and coordination with other Clinic Managers as necessary.
  • Initiates purchase of new equipment and supplies.
  • Participates in daily clinic activity to coordinate clinic functions and facilitate problem-solving.
  • Prepares statistical/narrative reports as requested.
  • Produces biweekly payroll and maintains documentation of employee time and benefits used.
  • Monitors and documents tardiness and absenteeism.
  • Interviews hires and orients new employees; documents each new employee's orientation, coordinates with personnel, and adheres to UAMS policy.
  • Provides continuing education opportunities within budgetary constraints, ensuring appropriate employees are cross-trained.
  • Uses both formal and informal evaluation processes to reward or modify employee behavior.
  • Develops an understanding of the functions of each Ambulatory Service and primary campus department. Demonstrates a working knowledge of their interrelation in contributing to the overall function.
  • Coordinates timely completion of personnel records, including employee promotions/transfers and new employee hiring.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
