The Clinical Social Services Director provides leadership and oversight for the Social Services Department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of services. This role is an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team and is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and implementation of social service interventions for patients. The Clinical Social Services Director oversees the work of Social Services staff, including the Discharge Planner, Case Manager, Activity Therapist, and other departmental personnel, ensuring effective communication, collaboration, and adherence to regulatory and ethical standards. This position works closely with the medical staff, Director of Nursing, nursing leadership, and other clinical departments to support patient care, resolve concerns, and address psychosocial needs. The Director plays a key role in treatment team leadership, crisis intervention, family engagement, discharge planning, and coordination with outside agencies to safeguard patient rights and continuity of care. In addition, the Clinical Social Services Director supports departmental performance improvement initiatives, quality management activities, and assists in planning and managing the department’s budgetary needs.
