About The Position

Hartford HealthCare's Rushford Center, a leading provider of addiction and mental health services in Connecticut, is seeking a Clinical Services Assistant. This role supports clinicians in providing coordinated services and case management for adult clients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues. As an "Essential Employee," this position may require mandated shift coverage. Rushford is recognized nationally for its comprehensive prevention, treatment, and recovery programs, offering services such as Acute Care and Evaluation, Residential Addiction Treatment, Individual, Group & Family Therapy, Intensive Outpatient programs, and Community Support Programs. Requirements

  • Associates in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Counseling (DARC), Human Services, or related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English required for Latino Program only)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in a behavioral health or substance abuse setting
  • Knowledge of Alcoholics (or Narcotics) Anonymous 12-Step Program
  • Valid CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) & First Aid training certifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care under clinician supervision, co-leading therapy groups and performing case management activities to achieve client outcomes.
  • Provides basic counseling to reduce client anxiety and ensure continuity of care.
  • Prepares for and facilitates psychoeducational group sessions, social skill building, community meetings, and other therapeutic activities.
  • Implements established behavioral management plans for programs or individual clients, supporting adherence, implementing rewards/consequences, and providing counseling support.
  • Performs required safety checks, monitors activities, conducts intakes and searches, and disposes of potentially dangerous items.
  • Monitors medication self-administration, assists with medication management, maintains paperwork, transcribes medications, maintains medication counts (including controlled substances), obtains vital signs, and consults with medical staff.
  • Observes clients and communicates the effectiveness of the Treatment Plan to the Treatment Team, documenting responses and suggesting revisions.
  • Utilizes community resources and makes appropriate referrals for client treatment and post-discharge continuing care.
  • Assists with transportation arrangements for clients to attend the program or meet treatment plan aspects off-site.
  • Connects with area resources (service, health, employment agencies, professional groups) to gain knowledge of available services.
  • Participates in treatment conferences, staff meetings, and in-service training.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
