About The Position

This position with the department of Psychiatry is responsible for providing clinical office support which includes greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits and referrals, collecting co-payments, answering incoming patient phone calls, and medication prior authorizations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients, assisting with form completion; verifies accuracy of patient’s insurance and demographic information; provides HIPAA forms, consent-to-treat forms and other necessary clinic forms.
  • Collects co-pays for services; verifies and balances receipts and payments.
  • Reviews schedule for new patients, updating when necessary.
  • Calls patients with appointment time reminder, obtaining insurance information and referral forms.
  • Schedules return patient appointments and patient testing.
  • Assists patients with insurance questions regarding billing process.
  • Assists staff with sending patient appointment reminders and/or Zoom links along with other related scheduling duties as needed.
  • Answers incoming patient phones calls and directs them to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with Epic inbasket tasks, including patient messages and refill requests to distribute them appropriately.
  • Assists with incoming faxes and shared email folders to distribute them appropriately.
  • Submits prior authorization requests per office guidelines.
  • Cross coverage of other office staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
