To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families. Essential Functions include Clinical advancement, Clinical judgment and decision making, Clinical leadership, and Nurse-patient/family relationship. This role involves using systematic planning, appropriate methods, and timely exchange of information with the multidisciplinary team and patient/family to coordinate care. The nurse will demonstrate the ability to focus on and manage multiple patient needs and aspects of care, actively communicate with the care team, and utilize available resources to problem-solve. They will use the nursing process and critical thinking to provide individualized, goal-directed patient care consistent with current safety standards, identify actual/potential problems, and continuously evaluate interventions and care plans. The role also includes acting as a preceptor/teacher, implementing safe and efficient care for patients with complex needs, and documenting per department guidelines. Clinical leadership involves delegating and assigning care delivery processes, assessing physician orders, helping coworkers improve performance, and looking for ways to improve work processes. The nurse-patient/family relationship aspect includes establishing a therapeutic relationship, anticipating problems, analyzing social/cultural variables, serving as a patient advocate, providing age-appropriate patient education, and coordinating transfer and discharge planning.
