About The Position

The Interim Clinical Resource Medical Assistant–Registered (MA-R) is a role focused on supporting the healthcare team in delivering patient care. This position may assist with both direct and indirect patient care tasks. The MA-R’s scope of practice is determined by their training, demonstrated competency, and endorsement by a designated healthcare practitioner, in accordance with Washington State regulations. This role carries out delegated tasks as authorized through practitioner endorsement and provides both clinical support and clerical assistance to help maintain efficient patient flow.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR required or must be able to obtain within first 90 days of employment.
  • Must be eligible for Medical Assistant-Registered Licensure.
  • Background in medical preferred, but not required.
  • English and Spanish fluency preferred.
  • English fluency required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Fundamental Procedures: Wrapping items for autoclaving, Procedures for sterilizing equipment and instruments, Disposing of biohazardous materials, Practicing standard precautions.
  • Clinical Procedures: Preparing for and assisting in sterile procedures, Taking vital signs, Preparing patients for examination, Observing and reporting patients’ signs or symptoms.
  • Specimen Collection: Obtaining specimens for microbiological testing, Instructing patients in proper technique to collect urine and fecal specimens, Finger and/or heel stick to collect a blood specimen, Tests waived under the federal clinical laboratory improvement amendments program.
  • Patient Care: Telephone and in-person screening limited to intake and gathering of information without requiring the exercise of judgment based on clinical knowledge, Maintaining medical and immunization records, Obtaining vital signs, obtaining and recording patient history, Preparing and maintaining examination and treatment areas, Sorting, storing, and restocking exam/procedure rooms with supplies, Preparing patients for and assisting with routine and specialty examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries utilizing no more than local anesthetic, Assists with providing organized patient flow, Works closely with provider and nursing staff to help facilitate rapid response to patient needs, Screening and following up on test results as directed by a healthcare practitioner, Prepares patient referrals, Assists provider/nursing staff with patient tracking systems, Enters patients into appropriate recall plans, Administration of eye drops, topical ointments, and vaccines including combination or multidose vaccines.
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor, Start shift on time and meet attendance standards per the FTE assigned in HRIS system, Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment, Demonstrate sound work ethics, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity, Uphold CVCH’s mission and core values in all interactions, Comply with CVCH policies, Joint Commission standards, and HIPPA regulations.
  • Non-Essential Functions: Run ad hoc reports as requested, Participate in internal committees or special projects, Contribute to internal communications or newsletters.
  • MA-R Additional Functions: Function independently without direct supervision, Cross-trained to support MA staff across all departments and comfortable working at multiple sites, Willing to commute day of, to Chelan and all other clinical sites, Maintains a strong working knowledge of all departments, Serves as a positive role model and influencer among peers.
