About The Position

The WashU Medicine Center for Pediatric Neuromuscular Disorders provides quality care, state-of-the-art treatment, precision medicine, and research opportunities to pediatric and young adult patients diagnosed with neuromuscular disorders. Patients at our center have access to leading-edge clinical trials which focus on personalized medicine to improve the understanding, treatment, and prevention of neuromuscular diseases. This position works well as a gap year experience for individuals wanting exposure to clinical research. As a Clinical Research Study Assistant II, you will assist our team of highly skilled research coordinators and clinicians in executing clinical trial protocols for pediatric patients with neuromuscular disorders. You will have the opportunity to participate in clinical research study activities, including complex and multi-site clinical research trials. Phlebotomy and blood lab processing experience is preferred but not required. Experience with children is preferred but not required, although willingness to work with children is required. This is a time-limited position to not exceed two years.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross
  • Administrative Or Research (2 Years)
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date
  • Basic Life Support certification (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy and blood lab processing experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the recruitment of study participants as identified in related protocol; visits with study participants to explain study, screens for eligibility and obtains informed consent of participants.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork/documentation according to study protocol; obtains consent, interviews study subjects and schedules follow-ups as needed.
  • Performs basic/scripted assessments to confirm eligibility to participate in study; explains and schedules laboratory and diagnostic procedures and/or treatment as required in the study; refers participants to basic resources as necessary.
  • Collects data from study participants, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources; performs basic evaluation and interpretation of collected data and prepares appropriate reports and documentation as necessary; prepares and distributes study packets and information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
