About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry Center for School Mental Health has an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Specialist. The Department of Psychiatry has a tripartite mission of Clinical, Education, and Research agendas, serving our surrounding community and the State of Maryland, and providing expertise at a national and international level. Requirements

Bachelor's degree Psychiatry, Psychology, Neurology, Social Work, Sociology, or in a scientific field of study related to the research of the clinical setting.
Three (3) years clinical research including two (2) years in the relevant research specialization.
Knowledge of position requirements.
Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws.
Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

Performs as a single specialist in a clinical setting who is responsible for providing technical expertise to research programs and projects overseeing clinical research activities.
Develops, recommends, modifies, and implements policies and procedures for clinical research, as well as develop protocol manuals and data collection instruments.
Significantly contributes to the conduct of research.
Coordinates the preparation of Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol development and ensure compliance of research operations with protocols.
Coordinates developing and recommending policies and procedures and/or design methods for clinical research activities.
Oversees and coordinates the day to day clinical research operations, study initiation, execution, and completion.
Assist in the design and provide expert recommendation regarding research studies.
Oversees interaction with subject participants including eligibility screening, recruitment, enrollment, ensuring informed consent is properly secured and documented, counseling, and obtaining patient medical history.
Reviews and monitors program evaluation and implementation data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across reporting periods and grantee submissions.
Provides consultation and technical assistance to grantees regarding data reporting requirements, milestone and deliverable (M&D) metrics, data quality, and evaluation procedures.
Establishes and maintains database files and reports using computer applications such as Microsoft Excel/Access.
Conducts quantitative and qualitative data analysis using statistical and analytic software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R, Excel, Qualtrics, Dedoose) to support evaluation, reporting, and research activities.
Cleans, validates, manages, and interprets data for internal reports, presentations, scholarly products, and dissemination materials.
Assists with the preparation and dissemination of scholarly and practice-oriented deliverables, including manuscripts, conference presentations, reports, briefs, infographics, and other dissemination products.
Collaborates with project leadership and interdisciplinary teams to support evaluation planning, implementation monitoring, and continuous quality improvement activities.
Supports the development and refinement of data collection tools, reporting templates, and evaluation procedures.
Coordinates with internal and external partners to ensure timely communication regarding evaluation activities, reporting expectations, and project deliverables.
Provides mentorship, training, and workflow coordination to evaluation assistants, graduate research assistants, and other support staff.
Contributes to literature reviews, synthesis of findings, and preparation of presentations and written reports for multiple stakeholder audiences.
Participates in project meetings, technical assistance activities, and dissemination planning efforts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
