About The Position

The Clinical Research Pharmacist, Oncology at Holy Cross Hospital maintains overall responsibility for all investigational and FDA approved medications used in the clinical trials conducted at the hospital. This role involves monitoring pharmacy activities daily to ensure adherence to proper inventory record maintenance and timely, accurate billing to support clinical investigational drug trials. The position also focuses on promoting staff professional development, participating in committees, and presenting at educational events. Additionally, the role involves training new employees and pharmacy residents, providing drug information related to investigational drugs, and attending interdisciplinary team meetings. Communication and training of staff involved in clinical investigational drug trials, as well as providing technical and procedural guidance to research staff, are key aspects of this role. The pharmacist will also perform cross-functional duties as assigned, including those of an Oncology/IV Pharmacist, Staff Pharmacist, and Patient Care roles.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years as a working clinical pharmacist is required.
  • Current Florida Pharmacy License

Responsibilities

  • Maintains overall responsibility for all investigational and FDA approved medications used in the clinical trials conducted at Holy Cross Hospital.
  • Monitors pharmacy activities, on a daily basis.
  • Ensures adherence to proper inventory record maintenance and timely and accurate billing as required to support the clinical investigational drug trials.
  • Promotes professional development of staff; participates as an active member on committees; attends and/or presents at educational rounds, journal club, etc.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new employees and pharmacy residents, when applicable.
  • Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other health care professionals, as related to clinical investigational trial drugs.
  • Attends and contributes to interdisciplinary team meetings relating to clinical investigational drug trials.
  • Communicates with, and trains staff anticipated to participate in any aspect of the clinical investigational drug trials.
  • Provides technical and procedural guidance to research staff.
  • Performs cross-functional duties including those of the Oncology/IV Pharmacist, Staff Pharmacist, Patient Care, as assigned.
