About The Position

The University of New Mexico’s Center for Memory & Aging seeks a Clinical Research Manager to serve as Project Manager and Lead Research Coordinator for the clinical core of the newly funded New Mexico Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NM ADRC). The grant is expected to be funded through at least 2029. This position is a key staff role in the Clinical Core and works closely with its leaders, overseeing coordination of UNM’s local site within the grant consortium and ensuring project milestones are met. The research includes longitudinal studies of people with Alzheimer’s disease, with collection of MRI, cognitive, neurological, and blood data, as well as optional PET, CSF, and additional MRI studies. The manager supervises research coordinators and community health workers who work directly with participants, and oversees clinical data collection coordination at outlying sites, including Zuni and Acoma Pueblos. Occasional travel to national meetings and locations in New Mexico may be required. The role also provides backup research coordination for ongoing studies, including participant recruitment, scheduling, screening, assessments, protocol adherence, recordkeeping, study-data management, and review of patient records. The manager coordinates weekly consensus diagnosis meetings with other core contributors. The position involves confidential information and direct work with patients, including scheduling and coordinating research appointments and examinations. Additional clinical assessments may include drawing and processing blood samples, ECGs, and taking vitals. The successful candidate must communicate and work effectively with diverse people, particularly older adults with cognitive difficulties and their families, and demonstrate professional interpersonal skills, organization, and project-management ability. This is a regular, full-time, exempt staff position based at the Health Sciences Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is not eligible for remote work. The position is benefits eligible. NM Registered Nurse licensure may be required depending on the individual position. The successful candidate must complete a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check, and may be required to complete annual TB and rubella screening.
