The Clinical Research Coordinator coordinates and completes defined elements of professional clinical research work supporting the day to day execution of clinical research studies conducted at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU). Working under the general direction of the Principal Investigator(s) and in collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams, the incumbent ensures that assigned research activities are completed in accordance with approved study protocols, institutional policies, ethical standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and applicable regulatory requirements. The Clinical Research Coordinator coordinates participant recruitment and retention activities; facilitates study visits; maintains essential study and regulatory documentation; collects, monitors and manages clinical research data; supports ethics and regulatory submissions; and manage study timelines, recruitment targets and project milestones. The incumbent also serves as a liaison among investigators, study participants, sponsors and collaborating partners. The position contributes to the effective implementation and completion of clinical research studies focused on substance use, addiction medicine and related health outcomes. This position is located at the British Columbia Centre on Substance Use (BCCSU), a provincially networked organization with a mandate to develop, implement and evaluate evidence based approaches to substance use and addiction. As a University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine Centre, the BCCSU’s vision is to transform substance use policies and care in British Columbia by translating research into education and evidence based clinical care guidance. Through the collaborative development of evidence based policies, guidelines and standards, the BCCSU seeks to improve the integration of best practices across the continuum of substance use care. The BCCSU carries out this mandate through three integrated functions: research and evaluation, education and training, and clinical care guidance. The Clinical Research Coordinator reports to the Principal Investigator(s) and works closely with the Research Manager, clinicians, research staff, students and community partners. The position is primarily located at the Rapid Access Addiction Clinic at St. Paul’s Hospital and the BC Centre on Substance Use, with some flexibility for hybrid work.
