About The Position

Our research program on brain health in later life is seeking a clinical research coordinator to join our team to study risk and protective factors for cognitive impairment, such as Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. We conduct multiple studies aimed at identifying ways to lower the risk for cognitive impairment as individuals age. The role of Clinical Research Coordinators at Duke is highly regulated, embedded deeply in scientific method and documentation and requires exceptional attention to detail. Requirements

  • Completion of an Associate’s degree.
  • Work requires a minimum of two years of relevant research experience.
  • A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for 2 years required experience.
  • May require occasional evening and weekend work.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with older adults.
  • Experience administering cognitive tests to older adults.
  • Experience with human subjects research, including informed consent, confidentiality, and adherence to IRB-approved protocols.
  • Strong participant-facing communication skills, including interacting in-person, via zoom, phone, and email with participants following standardized protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct study visits, including administering cognitive tests.
  • Coordinate with mobile phlebotomy vendors to have biospecimens collected, processed, and shipped to local laboratory.
  • Communicate with participants via phone and email to facilitate appointments with phlebotomist.
  • Conduct recruitment and retention tasks, much of which will be on the phone.
  • Data entry and QA.
