About The Position

The Senior Clinical Research Coordinator supports IRB-approved oncology biobank operations within Thomas Jefferson University’s Biorepository. This role includes obtaining informed patient consent, coordination of specimen collection from clinical staff, processing specimens for long term storage, and accurate data management. The position requires strong communication skills and prior laboratory experience, as well as comfort interacting with clinical staff in operating rooms and the pathology department. Importantly, this is an operational and compliance-focused role and does not involve conducting any independent research.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s degree/Master’s degree and previous experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Development of collection specific documents, checklists, and workflows.
  • Implement collection procedures, including obtaining informed consent from patients and procuring biospecimens.
  • Process and prepare laboratory samples for long-term storage in accordance with established protocols.
  • Enter detailed information regarding specimen collection, processing, and patient chart review into designated databases.
  • Participate in designated after-hours coverage during select nights and weekends to respond to freezer alarms as needed and ensure specimen integrity.
  • Coordinate and manage projects supported by the biorepository.
  • Trains Clinical Research Coordinators on the proper procedures for conducting project specific collections.
  • Assist the Lab Manager with routine laboratory maintenance, equipment upkeep, and preparation for College of American Pathologists (CAP) inspections, including documentation review and audit readiness tasks.
  • Prepare interim reports, summaries, and statistics to support project oversight and compliance.
  • Organize, maintain, and securely store all documentation and data related to biospecimen collection, processing, and consent.
  • Provide clerical and technical support to ensure adherence to biorepository workflows and maintain the accuracy and integrity of all collected information.
