The Clinical Research Coordinator II handles administrative activities generally associated with the conduct of clinical trials. The full-time (40 hours/week) Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will support a 5-year clinical trial funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The North Georgia PFAS Study will test an intervention for reducing chemical exposures in Northwest Georgia communities (Floyd and Gordon counties). The CRC will be the primary on-the-ground presence for study operations in Floyd and Gordon counties, and will serve as an essential point of contact for study participants. The CRC should be highly organized, proactive, reliable, and willing to work on the occasional night or weekend. This is a locally based position; candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate or commute to the Northwest Georgia area. The CRC will report to the study investigators at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and will work closely with other team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and overseeing study visits with research participants. This includes conducting informed consent processes, administering questionnaires, collecting and managing biological specimens, and maintaining all required study documentation. The CRC will be expected to follow protocols and applicable safety, ethical, and regulatory requirements, maintain accurate and organized study records, and perform routine data quality checks. Candidates should be comfortable working independently in a field-based research environment while collaborating closely with a larger research team. Although the CRC will be responsible for conducting study visits in Floyd and Gordon counties, the CRC will also interact regularly with the Research Project Manager and study investigators at Emory to provide updates on field operations, identify and resolve issues, and ensure consistent implementation of study protocols. The position also requires the ability to collect, store, and ship biological specimens (urine, stool) and to communicate effectively with study participants and research staff. Training in phlebotomy (or willingness to training) is a plus. Occasional travel to Atlanta for team meetings or professional development activities is possible (if the candidate is not based in Atlanta) and will be covered by the study. An essential job requirement is that the CRC can build and maintain trusted relationships with study participants and community partners in Northwest Georgia to support participant retention and to fulfill the value of community-engaged research. The clinical research coordinator will work in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at the Rollins School of Public Health and will support the North Georgia PFAS Study.
