The Clinical Research Coordinator I works under the general supervision of investigator(s) to coordinate clinical and other research projects. The role primarily involves coordinating research participants and may include data management. It collects and quality-checks research data across multiple or complex studies and supports ethical, compliant research conduct from study start-up through closeout. Within the Department of Family and Community Medicine, the coordinator supports research led by Dr. Sarah Woods on how family relationships influence physical health, including a culturally responsive, community-based dyadic hypertension self-management intervention for African Americans with uncontrolled hypertension in primary care. The position also supports research led by Dr. Nora Gimpel involving student-run free clinics and community organizations serving underserved populations across North Texas. Work includes coordinating research activities and timelines, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining reports, supporting manuscript and abstract preparation and submission, and promoting consistent research practices across clinic sites. The ideal candidate has experience in primary care, behavioral health, and/or clinical research. The coordinator manages participant-related activities such as screening, recruitment, consent, enrollment, study procedures, interventions, follow-up, and data management. The role also coordinates regulatory activities, including IRB submissions and maintenance of essential files; supports participant safety and privacy; trains team members and students; and contributes to reports, presentations, publications, tables, figures, and participant engagement materials. For hypertension studies, the coordinator completes investigator-facilitated training, delivers an education control session on accurate blood pressure monitoring and self-management goal-setting, and provides study-issued blood pressure monitors while helping participants connect them to a smart device. For student-run free clinic research, the coordinator serves as the central coordinator and primary liaison among students, investigators, research teams, institutional offices, community partners, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities span project development and start-up, protocol implementation, recruitment and data activities, regulatory oversight, monitoring, dissemination, and closeout. The role develops systems and procedures for consistent and compliant research across clinic sites, identifies operational or regulatory issues, and supports corrective actions and process improvements. The position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a medical- or science-related field and one year of clinical research experience; additional years of experience or an advanced degree may be considered in lieu of education or experience, respectively. Salary is commensurate with education, skills, and relevant experience. The work takes place in clinical and office settings.
