Works under the direction of an Investigator(s) with general supervision, to coordinate research projects. This position primarily performs patient/participant coordination, however, may conduct data management in smaller departments on as needed basis. Collects and ensures quality control of clinical or basic research data in support of multiple and/or complex research studies. Position will work with neuroethics research and human brain-computer interface research in Neurological Surgery. Studies involve human participants with temporary/chronically implanted deep brain stimulation devices, stereotactic electro-encephalography/microelectrode arrays for neural recording/stimulation. Experiments provide personalized optimization strategies for brain stimulation/recording protocols to assist with mental disorders, sensory and motor disabilities. Will support participant recruitment, scheduling/communication, survey data collection/storage, organization of community outreach events/regulatory affairs. Tasks include, collect REDCap survey data via phone/in-person on the alignment between patient/clinician priorities, reach out to patient populations to spread awareness of a new research study, help organize educational community outreach events, work in Ethos/update IRB protocol submissions/meet with the regulatory team to update developments.
