About The Position

The Clinical Research Coordinator I assists investigators and the study team in the implementation, coordination, and conduct of clinical research activities. This role adheres to service values, principles, and research ethics. Under direct supervision, the balance between patient-facing and administrative data tasks will vary based on the specific requirements of each research program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience is directly related to the duties of the job.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Some knowledge of FDA, HSR, and GCP Guidelines.
  • Proficient analytical skills with the ability to remain agile and adaptable to various technological systems.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and contact potential BBS patients in the Northwestern Medical "system"
  • Coordination of care for those identified and interested patients to enable them to efficiently schedule visits with the appropriate specialists at appropriate intervals.
  • Facilitating enrollment in CRIBBS and the provision of clinical data under consent to CRIBBS to support natural history research
  • Identifying patients/families with syndromic ciliopathies with overlap with BBS and informing them of the BBS Clinic and the possibility to participate
  • Engaging with and supporting the BBS Foundation and the broader BBS patient community to share knowledge and best practices to improve clinical care for all people affected by BBS.
  • Coordinates reimbursement for study subjects.
  • Helps triage patient questions.
  • Assists with adverse event monitoring and reporting.
  • Assists in creating and maintaining case report forms or source document templates.
  • Abstracts data from medical records and enters information into study-specific forms and electronic data capture platforms.
  • Facilitates study initiation, monitoring and close-out visits.
  • May attend investigator meetings.
  • Other job functions as assigned.
