About The Position

The Clinical Research Assistant in the Department of Pediatrics will assist with the development, execution, and completion of departmental research and program evaluation activities. The Clinical Research Assistant will facilitate participant recruitment and enrollment, data collection and entry, and other duties related to pediatric research for projects addressing topic areas such as vaccination rates, mental health service access and improving child health. This role will assist Principal Investigators (PIs) and key study personnel on extramurally funded projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social science, science, or health related field (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, Biology, Pre-Medicine, etc.).
  • Clinical and/or Social Science Research experience.
  • Experience working in a mental health or healthcare setting.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Experience with manuscript preparation and submission to professional journals.
  • 'Experience with various publishing formats (APA, AMA).
  • REDCap system experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and provide follow-up for surveys, digital and paper formats.
  • Review medical charts and abstract relevant data into research datasets.
  • Enter data from other external sources (From paper into Excel, REDCap, Qualtrics, etc.).
  • Retrieve data from participating sites and/or participants and store data in designated location(s) per study protocols.
  • Assist with literature reviews.
  • Collaborate on the development of protocols.
  • Assist with development and finalization of Institutional Review Board forms and coordinate process for investigators.
  • Conduct recruitment activities in person and via phone calls, e-mails, and/or mail correspondences.
  • Schedule recruitment visits and prepare recruitment presentations for participants and for organizations.
  • Enrollment and consenting of research participants.
  • Engage in follow-up communication with recruited participants.
  • Provide study onboarding to participants who have been recruited, which may involve scheduling onboarding meetings, and assisting with onboarding presentations.
  • Assist in preparation of reports for funding organizations and project partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of oral or poster presentations for professional conferences or meetings.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for submission to professional journals including formatting to meet journal specification.
  • Ensure all presentation and publication activities have appropriate approvals prior to dissemination.
  • Maintain communication with study partners.
  • Attend study partner meetings on behalf of PI or study personnel in their absence.
  • Record and report meeting notes.
  • Assist in development of timelines or other documents related to the research projects.
  • Attend departmental research meetings and other relevant meetings.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain a list of scholarly activities related to assigned projects/grants.
