About The Position

This is a clinical research assistant position within the Department of Psychiatry Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University under the supervision of clinical psychologists in the Early Psychosis Intervention Center. This individual will assist and support scientific investigation to study the phenomenology of psychosis spectrum disorders, with a particular focus on the study of thought, speech, and language patterns and associated cognitive and clinical features. This individual will be involved in the following activities under the supervision of lead researcher(s): independently conduct research study visits with human participants in inpatient psychiatric and/or outpatient settings; administer study assessments (e.g., speech and language tasks and interviews, cognitive tests, clinical symptom and functioning measures); obtain, score, prepare, and organize study data (e.g., transcribe audio-recorded speech samples, score cognitive tests, obtain data via medical chart review); recruit study participants; manage data quality assurance; oversee and maintain accurate records of research activities; contribute to completion and submission of regulatory documents; prepare research progress reports; assist with data analysis and preparation of manuscripts, articles, posters, grant proposals, and abstracts; conduct literature review of scientific articles; monitor research inventory and initiate orders and organization of research materials; assist with training of junior research staff; engage in regular meetings with lead researcher(s) and other team members. The clinical research assistant will have opportunities to engage in the scientific presentation and publication process as aligned with their training and career goals. Applications will be considered on an ongoing basis until the position is filled. Expected start date would be as soon as possible. The position is one year long with possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent on funding availability and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience required.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
