About The Position

Functions as a Clinical and Translational Research Assistant providing support to the Immune Monitoring Discovery Platform (IMDP) in the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) and to our clinical trial partners. This role involves identifying appropriate patients from clinical schedules, discussing research studies with patients and obtaining consent, supporting participant recruitment and the implementation of strategies to ensure recruitment, coordinating and tracking collection of patient research samples (blood, urine, tissue biopsies), and assisting in the collection of research data. The position also includes performing data collection with electronic medical record chart review, assisting with the collection, entering, and maintaining clinical research data into study databases (CLIMBS, REDCAP), coordinating and tracking study communication with participants, performing data entry and preparing study reports, and overseeing and maintaining accurate records of research activities. Additionally, the role involves maintaining Institutional Review Board approvals and regulatory documentation, providing support in planning and implementing programmatic activities, and serving as a liaison with the research team and other departments. The assistant will work closely with and support trainees/students, data analyst, biostatistician, clinic staff, and principal investigator in their research efforts, attend research team meetings, and assist with the analysis of research results. Participation in planning, designing, and execution of translational research studies, conducting critical analysis of research literature, and developing plans and resource tools to meet requirements of new protocols are also key functions. The role includes summarizing data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts, assisting the principal investigator with the preparation and submission of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts, and co-authoring manuscripts. Optional duties, if interested, include processing/storage of patient research samples (blood, urine, fixed tissue) and learning basic biostatistical analyses for clinical and translational research projects. The position performs other duties as assigned by the PI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience required.
  • 0 years of relevant experience required.
