About The Position

The Clinical Research Assistant in the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management is responsible for delivering both individual and group-based health education, exercise instruction, and exercise testing. This role involves working with various populations, including individuals with intellectual or mobility-related disabilities. The Clinical Research Assistant plays a role in supporting the implementation and evaluation of physical activity, nutrition, and weight management interventions, offered both in-person and remotely. Within the Division of Physical Activity and Weight Management at KUMC, Clinical Research Assistants contribute to all phases of study implementation, assist with data collection, and perform outcome assessments for a variety of physical activity, nutrition, and weight management research programs.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of experience in exercise, public health, nutrition, or related field.
  • Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working in a clinical or research setting, preferably related to nutrition, physical activity, or weight management.
  • Experience conducting clinical exercise tests.
  • Experience with meal preparation, and nutrition or physical activity education.
  • Experience with various populations, including those with intellectual or physical disabilities.
  • Experience with data entry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation and evaluation of physical activity, nutrition, and weight management interventions across various populations, including individuals with Down syndrome, Autism, and mobility-related disabilities.
  • Deliver one-on-one and group-based health education sessions as a health educator and/or exercise specialist for participants in intervention studies.
  • Collaborate with faculty investigators and research team members to ensure adherence to study protocols and support daily study operations.
  • Conduct outcome testing, including anthropometric measurements and data collection related to diet, physical activity, behavior change, and body composition.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed participant records through timely documentation and data entry, in compliance with university policies and applicable standards.
  • Assist in promoting program offerings and engaging potential participants through outreach and communication efforts.
