The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) II is responsible for managing individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health in accordance with medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. The Clinical RN II collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members in the development, execution, and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan of care. The RN assumes a full patient assignment and can plan, analyze, intervene and set goals for patient care accordingly. This nurse provides nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the Virginia Board of Nursing. This RN maintains a safe care environment for their patients (clients) and delivers quality care. The unit, D37, is a 33-bed General Medical Surgical Unit that cares for adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, often experiencing acute exacerbations of chronic illnesses or newly diagnosed conditions requiring treatment and management. The unit offers opportunities to develop and maintain a broad range of clinical skills with diverse patient populations and experience with procedures such as IV insertion, urinary catheterization, CAPD, blood product administration, chest tube management, central line care, enteral feeding tubes, telemetry monitoring, restraints, rectal tube management, and enemas.
