About The Position

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) is seeking a Clinical Radiotherapy Physicist to join their Radiation Dosimetry Core in Manhattan. This role will support commissioning, quality assurance (QA), advanced dosimetry, and clinical external beam radiotherapy physics across MSK sites. The position is available at two levels: Physicist I for candidates with a master's degree and less than 3 years of post-training clinical experience, and Physicist II for candidates with 3-5+ years of experience. As part of the Radiation Dosimetry Core, you will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of MSK's QA and dosimetry programs across multiple clinical sites. Responsibilities include performing routine and advanced QA for linear accelerators, CT simulators, and associated systems, maintaining QA datasets and documentation, supporting external beam radiotherapy physics operations, patient-specific QA review, and daily QA processes. You will also support the commissioning of new clinical equipment/software, evaluate and implement emerging QA technologies, maintain detailed records and technical procedures, and collaborate with radiation oncologists, therapists, dosimetrists, and physicists, providing training and serving as a resource. Professional growth is encouraged through participation in workshops, lectures, meetings, and continuing education.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, or related physical science.
  • Physicist I track: clinical experience including training; board certification and New York State license / New Jersey registration eligibility acceptable.
  • Physicist II track: 3-5+ years of post-residency or post-training clinical experience; ABR or equivalent certification; New York State Medical Physicist license and New Jersey registration or eligibility.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically to all MSK facilities as required.
  • Radiotherapy physics expertise with a focus on QA, dosimetry, linac and CT simulator QA systems, and clinical external beam operations.
  • Comfort working across multidisciplinary teams and translating technical information clearly.
  • Experience with clinical systems, documentation, databases, programming, and workflow improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced QA for linear accelerators, CT simulators, and associated systems; maintain QA datasets, documentation, and enterprise QA workflows.
  • Support external beam radiotherapy physics operations, including patient-specific QA review and daily QA processes across Main Campus and Koch Center.
  • Support commissioning of new clinical equipment/software and help evaluate and implement emerging QA technologies.
  • Maintain detailed records, technical procedures, analyses, and required paper/electronic documentation for assigned projects and QA activities.
  • Partner with radiation oncologists, therapists, dosimetrists, and physicists; provide training and serve as a resource on assigned project-related issues.
  • Participate in workshops, lectures, meetings, in-service training, and continuing education to support credentialing and professional development.
  • Independently perform and oversee routine and advanced QA for linear accelerators, CT simulators, and auxiliary systems; cross-calibrate dosimetry equipment.
  • Maintain enterprise QA databases, workflows, datasets, clinical documentation, departmental files, and required QA/patient-plan records.
  • Lead or support Radiation Dosimetry Core projects, equipment/software commissioning, and evaluation of new QA technologies.
  • Conduct staff training, follow-ups, audits, and small-group learning sessions; communicate project updates and technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain continuing education and participate in professional workshops, institutional lectures, departmental meetings, and in-service training.
