Opening in summer 2026, Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital – a state-of-the-art, seven-story, multi-specialty hospital – will serve as a vital 550,000 square-foot healthcare hub offering: 300+ inpatient beds and 69 emergency and observation beds 11 operating rooms and four cardiac interventional suites Dedicated labor and delivery services – including a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that will debut shortly after the hospital opens Comprehensive cardiovascular, neurology, and oncology services Advanced surgical procedures Join us in shaping the future of healthcare in Polk County as part of the Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital opening team and share in the privilege of saying you were there from the very beginning. The clinical quality specialist serves as a member of the quality team coordinating and support quality activities and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Life Sciences, or Healthcare Administration.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Pharmacist with the Florida Department of Health (as applicable).
  • Certification in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), or Nurse Executive (NE-BC) required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supports quality and patient safety activities, as well as process improvement initiatives, as assigned by the Chief Quality Officer or designated leadership.
  • Facilitates progress toward organizational quality goals by developing strategies, improvement plans, and presentations aligned with system-wide quality and safety objectives.
  • Collaborates with leadership, clinical leaders, and staff to design, implement, and sustain a comprehensive quality and patient safety program.
  • Partners with interdisciplinary teams, including risk management, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, data analytics, education, and operational effectiveness, to drive improved outcomes.
  • Builds and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Participates in and/or leads interdisciplinary teams focused on quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, as appropriate.
  • Evaluates clinical workflows and practice environments to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhanced patient safety.
  • Supports the development of a culture of safety and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to implement organization-wide quality and safety initiatives.
  • Assists in the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures related to quality and patient safety.
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of new technologies, systems, and clinical processes that enhance quality and safety outcomes.
  • Provides education and training to staff related to quality improvement and patient safety principles.
  • Develops and produces reports for physicians, practice managers, and leadership to identify improvement opportunities and track progress of initiatives.
  • Serves as a resource for staff regarding quality and safety practices and observes daily operations to identify potential process enhancements.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and situational leadership in daily responsibilities.
  • Promotes and supports effective change management across clinical and operational settings.
  • Maintains proficiency in current and emerging data platforms utilized by the organization.
