About The Position

This role is for a psychologist looking to make a significant impact with an underserved population in skilled nursing facilities. The work involves providing psychological care to older adults who have high rates of mental health and cognitive needs. The setting is described as one where psychologists are much needed due to the increasing demand for clinical psychology and geropsychology in skilled nursing facilities. Executive Mental Health (EMH) focuses on providing quality mental healthcare in this setting, serving individuals navigating serious mental illness, cognitive decline, medical complexity, trauma, grief, and profound transitions. The role is full-time and involves collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to stabilize care, reduce suffering, and improve quality of life.

Requirements

  • Hold a PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology
  • Licensed in California
  • Medicare-eligible (assistance with credentialing and paneling provided)
  • Value evidence-based practice and clinical flexibility
  • Comfortable working with complexity and ambiguity
  • Want autonomy without isolation, and support without micromanagement
  • Curiosity, compassion, and the ability to see the person behind the chart

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat individuals in skilled nursing facilities.
  • Provide psychological services to geriatric, disabled, and medically complex populations.
  • Manage an active caseload with support from a clinical manager and administrative team.
  • Collaborate closely with facility staff, offering consultation, guidance, and in-services.
  • Complete documentation aligned with medical necessity and Medicare standards.
  • Provide care by meeting residents where they reside, in skilled nursing facilities.
