Requirements
- M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a master's and/or doctoral degree in Physics or a related field.
- American Board of Radiology, Therapeutic Medical Physics certification or equivalent.
- Three years post-degree clinical medical physics experience.
- Is expected to be credentialed in most procedures practiced in our clinic.
- Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Therapeutic Radiologic Physics and/or the American Board of Medical Physics (ABMP) in Radiation Oncology Physics
Responsibilities
- Verifies, documents and maintains all information used in calculation and delivery of radiation doses given to patients.
- Analyzes and evaluates equipment performance used in the delivery of radiation therapy.
- Provides technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed.
- Remains current in treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practice.
- Provides instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, pre and postdoctoral students.
- Develops, and performs quality assurance procedures and monitors radiation output, mechanical integrity and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy.
- Remains current on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines.
