Under the Direction of the VP of Nursing and in collaboration with the Nursing Supervisors, the Clinical Practice Supervisor is an experienced critical care or emergency department registered nurse who serves as an expert clinical resource throughout the hospital. The role focuses on early recognition and intervention for patients who are clinically deteriorating outside the ICU and Emergency Department, helping prevent cardiac arrest and other adverse events. They are clinical experts in assessment, in depth chart analysis, and ensuring regulatory readiness by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing practice along with supervisory evaluation of RN’s during rounding and clinically significant events. The Clinical Practice Supervisor must possess strong problem-solving skills, incorporate organizational awareness, make effective use of team resources and be able to engage with staff, patients, families and clinical leadership in a professional, constructive and non-judgmental manner.
