Requirements

  • M.S., M.M.P., D.M.P., or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or a master's and/or doctoral degree in Physics or a related field.
  • Completion of a CAMPEP (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs) accredited residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
  • Is expected to Credential in any procedures practiced independently, but is not expected to be credentialed in all services we provide.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies, documents and maintains all information used in calculation and delivery of radiation doses given to patients.
  • Analyzes and evaluates equipment performance used in the delivery of radiation therapy.
  • Provides technical assistance and clinical support to Consultant staff and Allied health personnel as needed.
  • Remains current in treatment techniques and applicable medical physics practice.
  • Provides instruction to residents, dosimetry staff, therapy staff, pre and postdoctoral students.
  • Develops, and performs quality assurance procedures and monitors radiation output, mechanical integrity and safety of equipment used in radiation therapy.
  • Remains current on Federal, State, and Institutional safety guidelines.
