About The Position

The Certified Clinical Pharmacy Technician supports the safe, accurate, and efficient preparation and distribution of medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, clinic staff, and pharmacists to improve coordination of care, optimize patient access to clinical pharmacy services, and enhance workflow efficiency. This role assists with medication reconciliation, transitions of care activities, appointment coordination, patient outreach, medication access support, and documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Current Oregon Pharmacy Technician registration certificate without restriction required.
  • Current Oregon Pharmacy Technician license without restriction required.
  • Current Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety protocols, including HIPAA and Oregon Pharmacy Law.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks and maintaining patient safety.
  • Ability to apply basic problem-solving skills to identify and resolve discrepancies in medication orders or inventory.
  • Skilled in organizing inventory, restocking medications, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Skilled in performing calculations and measuring medications accurately for prescriptions and IV admixtures.
  • Skilled in using pharmacy software, electronic health records (EHR), and standard office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for both patients and clinic staff to optimize access to the clinical services available in the pharmacist-run ambulatory care clinic.
  • Schedules appointments for patients referred to the pharmacist-run ambulatory care clinic.
  • Ensures that patients’ prescriptions are properly documented in the electronic medical record.
  • Screens patients prior to appointments to make sure that appropriate labs have been completed
  • Assists patients with financial services to support medication adherence and address barriers to medication access
  • Performs medication reconciliation for patients requiring transitions of care services
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information and complies with HIPAA, infection control, aseptic procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Crosstrain to provide support and staffing coverage as an inpatient pharmacy technician
  • Follows current Oregon Pharmacy Law regarding pharmacy technician capabilities and scope of practice while supporting hospital and clinic pharmacy areas in maintaining compliance with the Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory requirements.
