About The Position

This role involves all aspects of the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storage of medications, administration, and monitoring. The supervisor partners with physicians and other clinicians to provide treatments and advice to patients, records patient history relating to medication use, and ensures the safe and secure storage of medications and related supplies. The supervisor advises physicians in determining the best possible treatments for specific diseases and stays current on pharmacy regulations, treatments, and developments in research and design. Pharmacists are the experts on drug therapy and the primary health professionals who optimize the use of medication for the benefit of patients. This role also meets the educational needs of patients, healthcare teams, students, and residents, and ensures adherence to regulatory and fiscal requirements. The position provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees, functioning as an advisor to the unit and administration. The supervisor analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas), and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Judgment is exercised within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. The supervisor supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Specifically, this role provides supervision to pharmacists and may also include supervision of technical support staff. Responsibilities include assigned staff scheduling, timekeeping, training, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
