The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist works under minimal supervision to provide expertise not routinely available in the pharmacy staff. The abilities these individuals have may include a broad background in specific clinical areas (such as hematology/oncology and total parenteral nutrition), or the individual may have expertise in specific pharmacy management areas (such as information systems, drug utilization evaluation, or investigational drugs). The pharmacist may participate in departmental and institutional committees upon request and will be instrumental in developing and implementing clinical pharmacy services in assigned areas. This position will develop policy and procedures when appropriate. The clinical pharmacist will prioritize work appropriately, accept responsibility for the work area, have good work awareness, assist others when work is completed, and work effectively with team/work groups and others to fulfill the UAMS Mission. They will adopt practices to improve work processes, enhance guest satisfaction, reduce wastes and costs, and participate in ongoing hospital performance assessment and process improvement.
