Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Critical Care
About The Position
Summary: Through the leadership of the BH Pharmacy Manager of Clinical Programs, the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is primarily responsible for leading and providing comprehensive and collaborative pharmaceutical care and supporting the pharmacy education programs. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is also expected to serve as a leader among their colleagues, supporting workflow and education as appropriate. The major job responsibilities include identification, resolution, and prevention of drug-related problems, drug distribution support, order verification, and oversight of medication use protocols and/or restrictions. The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist supports and leads clinical pharmacy and medication management initiatives, serves as the pharmacy representative on committees as appropriate, participates in research, and contributes to the advancement of knowledge through the teaching and education of Pharmacy students, Pharmacy residents, and Pharmacy staff, as well as Nursing staff and Prescriber staff both internally and externally. In addition, the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist serves as a preceptor for APPE students and pharmacy residents. Responsibilities include program/syllabus development and maintenance to achieve program goals and provision of sound academic and clinical training for students and residents.
Requirements
- PGY-1 equivalent to three years in a direct patient care role
- Maintenance of ASHP residency preceptorship requirements
- Excellence in clinical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must be results-oriented and able to meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Understands the principles of staff engagement
- Demonstrates innovation and creativity
- Effective leadership skills (project management, team leadership, etc.) required
- Doctorate
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist - Board of Pharmacy Specialist, Licensed Pharmacist - Other

- Participate in Pharmacy-Research Projects
- Must be able to obtain any applicable BPS certification within 12 months from the date of hire that is relevant to the clinical scope.
