The Phoenix Indian Medical Center (PIMC) is a 127-bed Indian Health Service hospital located in central Phoenix, Arizona. PIMC is one of the largest IHS facilities in the country, serving over 150,000 American Indian and Alaska Native patients from more than 45 tribes across the greater Phoenix metropolitan area and surrounding communities. PIMC provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services. This role involves screening patient charts, processing and filling medication orders, checking prescriptions for accuracy, educating patients on medication therapy, and collaborating with the pharmacy team and providers to ensure timely and accurate pharmaceutical services. The Clinical Pharmacist will also answer provider questions regarding drug therapy, recognize and manage life-threatening emergencies and adverse drug reactions, handle telephone calls and refill requests, perform controlled substance audits, and assist with putting away orders. I.V. admixtures and inpatient drug distribution will be performed as needed, and administering immunizations is also a responsibility (certification required). Participation in training and competency activities, including annual safety and infection control, is expected.
