About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Part-Time Clinical Pharmacist to fill in at the Outpatient Pharmacies located within our hospitals in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Williamsburg, and Suffolk. This is a resource float position based on need to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Sentara Leigh Hospital, Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital, Sentara Careplex, Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, and Sentara Obici Hospital. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for the provision of safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services. They participate in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system while providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to patients in their assigned areas. This role requires the ability to work competently and independently in various pharmacy practice areas, manage patient drug therapy according to clinical standards, and ensure the appropriateness of medication orders for patient care and safety. The pharmacist must maintain current knowledge of medication use and disease states, serve as a primary resource for drug information and education, and provide in-depth patient counseling when needed. Additionally, they will participate in training new employees, assume responsibility for assigned tasks, and follow policies and procedures. Continuous learning, superior customer service, effective communication, decision-making, and organization are essential. The role also involves serving as a role model in professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork, ensuring adequate supplies, triaging and escalating issues, using appropriate systems for patient information, maintaining quality assurance, and operating pharmacy equipment. Precepting pharmacy students is also a responsibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Level Degree in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Virginia Pharmacist License (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy (Preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
  • Previous Clinical Pharmacist Experience (Preferred)
  • Residency Trained PGY1/PGY2 (Preferred)
