About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacist assures the appropriate selection, dosing, administration, and dispensing of medication orders in the Retail Pharmacy. The role works under minimal supervision and requires critical thinking and decisive judgment, including the ability to take appropriate action in a stressful environment.

The position is part-time at 0.5 FTE, or 40 hours per pay period, with weekend work as needed. It is based in the Community Pharmacy at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. A Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy and an active Kentucky pharmacist license are required upon hire; no prior work experience is required.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy required upon hire.
• Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Kentucky (R.Ph.) required upon hire.
• No work experience required.
• Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and take appropriate action in a stressful environment.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug-related problems.
• Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and dispense medications for retail sales.
• Ensure medication packaging and labeling comply with state and federal regulations.
• Provide drug information and education to consumers.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as needed to facilitate care.
• Counsel patients on their medications.
• Supervise Pharmacy Technicians to ensure proper medication dosage and labeling and validate order entries.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Support Owensboro Health’s mission, vision, core commitments, and business interests.
• Adhere to organizational policies and procedures and perform work consistently with a culture of compliance, safety, and high reliability.
