About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacist position is within the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Dallas. This role is crucial for providing exceptional patient care and actively participating in emergent bedside care, including strokes, level I traumas, and code blues. The department utilizes advanced technologies like EPIC, Pyxis, carousel, and KitCheck to optimize patient care. Pharmacists serve a diverse patient population across various units such as the ED, ICUs, ORs, Women and Neonatal, Oncology, and Medical/Surgical. They are involved in clinical initiatives like anticoagulation management, renal monitor/adjustments, and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas is an 875-bed, full-service hospital serving the Dallas community and surrounding areas since 1966, specializing in cancer care, cardiology, neurosciences, women’s services, and emergency medicine. It is recognized as a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, with a Joint Commission-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, Level I Trauma Center, and Comprehensive Heart Attack Center. The hospital is a designated Magnet hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. is required
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency is required
  • Texas Pharmacist License upon hire is required
  • Must be proficient in written and verbal English language communication skills, computer proficient and possess basic math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, or a minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical hospital pharmacy experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience within a pharmacy specialty or high-acuity care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating effectively, building positive professional relationships and role modeling teamwork.
  • Timely and accurate support of medication distribution including medication order verification and oversight of pharmacy technician responsibilities.
  • Provision of clinical pharmacy services for the safe and efficient patient care.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of one's own work as well as maintaining required competencies and other documentation.
  • Consistent support of the department's quality improvement and patient safety standards programs and initiatives is also required.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth.
  • Not only the management of one's own time but shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
  • Delivery of high quality of patient care through nursing education, nursing research and innovations in nursing practice.
