About The Position

As a Clinical Pharmacist at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, part of CommonSpirit Health, you will be responsible for safely prescribing and dispensing medications to patients. This involves reviewing every prescription for potential drug interactions, correct dosing, and patient allergies, ensuring an expert final check beyond computer systems. The role requires a continuous learning mindset, real-time research for patient solutions, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient experience and care. The organization is a national nonprofit health system operating in 18 states with 103 hospitals and various other healthcare services.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Of Science Pharmacy, upon hire or Doctor Of Pharmacy Pharmacy, upon hire
  • Pharmacist: North Dakota, upon hire
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Responsibilities

  • Help doctors and nurses safely prescribe and dispense medications to help patients feel better and recover from illness or injury.
  • Review every prescription for potential drug interactions, correct dosing, patient allergies or anything that looks unusual.
  • Document clinical activities and interventions such as consults, patient teachings and other patient specific information as defined by policy and procedure.
  • Interpret medication orders and/or prescriptions for drug interactions, appropriate drug selection and appropriateness.
  • Accurately enter / verify the order or prescription into the computer system, label, and dispense medications in a timely manner.
  • Verify and check medications prepared by other pharmacy personnel.
  • Communicate drug information to patients and health professionals.
  • Resolve drug related problems by consulting with other health care professionals to achieve appropriate patient outcomes.
  • Clarify unclear orders written by a licensed provider with the licensed provider.
  • Assist the licensed provider in appropriate drug selection and therapeutic regimens.
  • Achieve and maintain an adequate basic knowledge base to provide clinical services for all age groups served.
  • Provide basic clinical services as required by policy and procedure.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of automated systems
