About The Position

This position is responsible for performing activities associated with administration and management of pharmacy programs including but not limited to assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of a disease state formulary system. Utilization management programs. Specialty pharmacy management. Medication therapy management, client relationships and support; and development of innovative clinical programs. This is a Clinical Optimization Pharmacy role. The Clinical Optimization Pharmacist is responsible for daily clinical pharmacy activities within the Medicare program. This position supports the development and execution of initiatives that improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of drug therapy in coordination with ambulatory care providers and clinical teams. The position requires limited regional travel (up to 250 miles) to support assigned provider groups. This is a Remote/Work-From-Home role.

Requirements

  • Current registered and unrestricted Pharmacist in the United States
  • Experience using window based word processing, spreadsheet and relational database software
  • Drug information skills
  • Strong Verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of practice guidelines or practice parameters; pharmacoeconomics; quality improvement processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of medication use evaluation principles
  • Ability to remain at a work station and perform computer entry for long periods of time, as required
  • Skills to handle multiple priorities and manage communications professionally to achieve issue resolution with customers, employees, or management
  • Must have an active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of residence

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience within Pharmacy practice
  • Additional certifications and residency experience
  • Managed care and/or Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience
  • MTM experience, specialty pharmacy, or government programs knowledge
  • PharmD or bachelor’s degree in pharmacy with advanced clinical experience
  • Completion of a managed care rotation, residency, or relevant clinical program
  • Experience working with Medicare Stars, MTM, or population-health pharmacy programs
  • 3 or more years of clinical and/or managed care experience
  • Knowledge of computer applications (Excel, PowerPoint), including pharmacy claims systems
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements with emphasis on Medicare
  • Ability to travel up to 250 miles to support provider groups
  • Strong Presentation and Communication skills
