About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Flexi Clinical Pharmacist for the Central Pharmacy in Norfolk, VA. This is a part-time position requiring 2 shifts per pay period, with rotating 8-hour shifts typically between 6 am and 11 pm, and occasional overnight and weekend coverage as needed. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services, participating in all aspects of the medication-use system, and delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients in assigned areas. This role requires independent practice, management of patient drug therapy, assurance of medication order appropriateness, maintenance of current knowledge, and serving as a drug information resource. The position also involves patient counseling, training new employees, assuming responsibility for assigned tasks, adhering to policies, seeking continuous training, demonstrating superior customer service, and acting as a role model in professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork. Additionally, the role ensures adequate supplies, triages issues, uses appropriate systems for patient information, maintains quality assurance, operates pharmacy equipment, and precepts pharmacy students. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Level Degree in Pharmacy (Required)
  • Virginia Pharmacist License (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy (Preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
  • Previous Hospital Experience (Preferred)
  • Residency PGY1/PGY2 Trained (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Provision of safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services
  • Participation in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system
  • Providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to patients in assigned areas
