This Position Is Responsible For Performing Activities Associated With Administration And Management Of Pharmacy Programs Including But Not Limited To Assisting In The Development, Implementation And Maintenance Of A Disease State Formulary System. Utilization Management Programs. Specialty Pharmacy Management. Medication Therapy Management, Client Relationships And Support; And Development Of Innovative Clinical Programs. The CareAllies clinical pharmacist will play a key role in executing on our strategic priorities focused on unlocking value and quality for physicians by reducing complexity of care and elevating clinical results. The Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in advancing the quality, safety, and effectiveness of drug therapy for Healthspring Medicare members. In this position, you will collaborate with a high performing, multidisciplinary team of professionals across multiple functions to conduct comprehensive medication reviews (CMRs) for high-risk populations. These reviews include but are not limited to the assessment of drug interactions, identifying therapeutic duplications, evaluating renal and hepatic dosing adjustments, addressing evidence-based gaps in care, supporting STAR-related pharmacy initiatives, and identifying barriers to medication affordability and adherence. This is a Clinical Optimization Pharmacy role. The Clinical Optimization Pharmacist is responsible for daily clinical pharmacy activities within the Medicare program. This position supports the development and execution of initiatives that improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of drug therapy in coordination with ambulatory care providers and clinical teams. The position requires limited regional travel (up to 25% ) to support assigned provider groups.

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacist in the United States
  • Experience using window based word processing, spreadsheet and relational database software
  • Drug information skills
  • Strong Verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of practice guidelines or practice parameters; pharmacoeconomics; quality improvement processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of medication use evaluation principles
  • Ability to remain at a work station and perform computer entry for long periods of time, as required
  • Skills to handle multiple priorities and manage communications professionally to achieve issue resolution with customers, employees, or management
  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
  • Registered in good standing pharmacy license
  • Professional experience in managed care and / or in ambulatory care of 3+ years
  • Professional pharmacy practice experience with the patient population
  • Strong communication skills to convey clear understanding of unique needs to different audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a timely fashion
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and continue to operate effectively
  • Effectively builds informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization
  • Ensure tasks are prioritized appropriately to effectively and efficiently accomplish objectives and goals
  • Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft office platforms word, excel, and power point
  • Foundational understanding of the structure of the CMS Medicare program and associated regulatory landscape
  • Foundational understanding of the CMS quality improvement programs
  • Active Pharmacist license required
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
  • Strong clinical medication knowledge with the ability to apply evidence-based guidelines in practice
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Managed Care, Medicare and/or Medicaid settings preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to navigate systems and applications simultaneously
  • Strong learning agility and ability to apply new concepts and tools
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem solving and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex healthcare challenges
  • Must have an active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the State of residence

Nice To Haves

  • Doctor of pharmacy degree is strongly preferred
  • Registered pharmacist preceptor
  • Additional certifications and residency experience
  • Managed care and/or Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) experience
  • MTM experience, specialty pharmacy, or government programs knowledge
  • Strong Presentation and Communication skills
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited Pharmacy PGY1 Residency program
  • Residency and/or Board Certification preferred
  • Experience with Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with MTM platforms (ex: Adhere Health’s Optimize or similar applications) preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
