About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist for our Inpatient Pharmacy team in Charlottesville, VA! This is a Full Time position (40 hrs/wk) with rotating shifts (Days and Evenings, occasional Overnight) and requires working every 4th weekend and holiday rotation. The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible and accountable for providing safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services. They participate in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system while providing comprehensive and individualized pharmaceutical care to patients in their assigned areas. This role requires the ability to work independently in various pharmacy practice areas, manage patient drug therapy according to clinical standards, and ensure the appropriateness of medication orders for patient care and safety. The pharmacist must maintain current knowledge of medications and diseases, serve as a primary resource for drug information, provide patient counseling, and participate in training new employees. They are expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, follow policies and procedures, and seek out additional training. Superior customer service, communication, decision-making, and organization are essential. The role also involves serving as a role model in professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork, ensuring adequate supply availability, triaging issues, using appropriate systems for patient information, maintaining quality assurance, operating pharmacy equipment, and precepting pharmacy students.

Requirements

Bachelors Level Degree in Pharmacy (Required)
Virginia Pharmacist License (Required)
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Nice To Haves

Doctorate Level Degree in Pharmacy (Preferred)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
Previous Clinical Experience (Preferred)
Oncology Experience (Preferred)
Residency Trained (Preferred)

Responsibilities

Provision of safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services.
Participation in all necessary aspects of the medication-use system.
