About The Position

The Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating utilization data to identify areas for improvement in the pharmacy program's clinical impact and cost-effectiveness for renewals. This role involves analyzing monthly claims data, providing client feedback to the Client Services/Sales team, and ensuring quality controls while initiating performance improvement opportunities. The Clinical Pharmacist will also serve as a clinical liaison, participate in the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Review Committee, and develop/implement clinical pharmacy programs in collaboration with client retention initiatives. Additionally, this position will coordinate Plan/Patient Assistance programs, maintain professional knowledge through research and workshops, provide clinical/data support for the Quoting/Analytics division, generate performance metric reports, and assist with pharmacy claim audits. Duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in retail or hospital pharmacy.
  • Must have strong customer service orientation and excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients, pharmacies and plan members.
  • Proficient PC skills in Windows-based applications.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to the changing needs in the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced education in pharmacy (Pharm D) a plus.
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in managed healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide review and evaluation of utilization data for areas of improvement for both clinical impact and cost effectiveness of the pharmacy program for renewals.
  • Analyze monthly claims data and provide client feedback to Client Services/Sales as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate quality controls and initiates opportunities for performance improvement in pharmacy/practice.
  • Advise the Client Services/Sales team on pharmacy drug utilization review (DUR) issues.
  • Serve as Clinical Liaison with Client Services Implementation team.
  • Participate on quarterly Pharmacy & Therapeutics Review Committee.
  • Develop and/or implement clinical pharmacy programs in collaboration with client retention initiatives.
  • Coordinate all efforts related Plan/Patient Assistance programs related to client management.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research and by attending educational and technological workshops.
  • Provide supportive clinical/data information for Quoting/Analytics division.
  • Generate reporting on performance metrics related to client savings etc.
  • Assist with pharmacy claim audits as needed.
  • Perform duties as assigned.
