This PRN (as needed) position is for Virtual Pharmacy Services within the Atrium Health NC/GA Division. Pharmacists must be licensed in Georgia or North Carolina to start and obtain both licenses within 6 months of hire. The role requires a rotating/variable schedule, including both 1st and 2nd shifts, as well as rotating weekends and holidays (every 3rd weekend and every 3rd minor and major holiday, 2 per year). Virtual Pharmacists will verify orders for all acute care facilities in the Atrium Health NC/GA Division, including rehabilitation hospitals, with specific queues for Med Surg, Critical Care, and Pediatrics in Epic. Key responsibilities include overseeing pharmaceutical care, evaluating biomedical literature, designing medication therapy regimens, and providing patient and caregiver counseling on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, and administration. The pharmacist will also review and interpret medication orders, participate in medical emergencies, support medication safety and quality improvement, and perform quality assurance. Collaboration with healthcare teams to manage formulary adherence and assist with non-formulary medications is also part of the role. The position requires compliance with organizational policies and regulations, proper medication handling, and may involve serving as a preceptor and mentor for pharmacy students, residents, and teammates. The pharmacist must demonstrate age-specific care knowledge and skills.
